Virtual Action Hour for World Week for Animals in Labs 2022
« Join activists around the country as we take virtual action for the thousands of silenced animals currently being tortured and mutilated at the OHSU, UW, and EU labs.
Studies show that a staggering 90% of basic research, most of which involves animals, fails to lead to treatments for humans. Yet the biggest funder of research in the U.S., the National Institutes of Health (NIH), spends nearly half its annual budget on animal studies. That’s $18 billion down the drain every year. Join us on April 25th to demand a better way.
We are excited to be partnering with Northwest Animal Rights Network, Georgia Animal Rights & Protection, Veggies Do It Better, and PETA for this event.
We will start the evening off with an informative talk by Amy Meyer, Manager of Primate Experimentation Campaigns at PETA. Following Amy’s talk and action Telling Congress to adopt the Research Modernization Act, we will move into the actions against ONPRC led by ARCPDX and WaNPRC led by Dr. Lisa Jones-Engel of NARN. We will also have actions against the other primate facilities to do on your own time.
At the beginning of the event, we will share a document of the actions and walk you through them step-by-step.
Everyone is welcome regardless of their activism, tech level, or location.
