AAM Presents: Humane Washing Our Food: Cage-Free, Free-Range, Humane…What the Labels Really Mean

« In this workshop, author Hope Bohanec explores recent shifts in labeling meat, dairy, and eggs and the misinformation around this « new way » of farming. Small scale animal agriculture is the latest craze. It is now popular to express that your eggs are cage-free and that your meat is organic. But is this trend really the answer to the plentiful problems of raising animals for food? What do the labels really mean? Is free-range better for the environment? Is organic more humane? Is there really happy meat? This presentation offers answers to these critical questions.

About our guest speaker: Hope Bohanec has been active in animal protection and environmental activism for 30 years and has published the book « The Ultimate Betrayal: Is There Happy Meat? » She is the Executive Director of Compassionate Living and the host of the Hope for the Animals Podcast. She co-founded the Humane Hoax Project, the Ahimsa Living Project and has organized hundreds of online and in-person events. Over the last three decades, Hope has worked for the national non-profits United Poultry Concerns and In Defense of Animals and contributed chapters to two anthologies.

This workshop is held on Zoom. Link to be posted here. Please check back as the date approaches. »
