Beyond species: Understanding farm animal altruism and the human-animal bond
« The human-animal bond has evolved throughout the years. In the Philippines, Animal-Assisted Intervention (AAI) Programs are gaining traction as an evidenced-based approach to promote mutual healing for both humans and non-human animals. According to Dr. Maria Catalina T. de Luna of University of the Philippines Los Baños, some animals can also be highly social and can empathize with humans.
Altruistic behavior has been observed in the animal kingdom, particularly in species with complex social structures.
This makes us wonder if farm animals are also capable of altruism. Do they possess altruistic traits — benefitting other animals and even humans?
This free webinar is intended to promote public discourse of animal altruism and animal empathy.
