Towards a Veganic Revolution

« Spring is a time for new growth and new beginnings. That’s why Seed the Commons is celebrating spring equinox by putting forth a radically new vision of how to grow food – and by extension, of our food systems, our social systems, and our way of being on this planet.

Helen Atthowe and Iain Tolhurst are commercial organic farmers who have been involved in the organic movement, in the US and UK respectively, for decades. And they have taken organics several steps further. Both have spent their careers developing farming systems that are biodiverse and regenerative, while also eschewing the animal inputs and domestication that are a mainstay of most organics.

We are delighted and honored to be joined by them the day before spring equinox, so that we can envision the new. What can farming in a compassionate, sustainable food system look like? What changes can we start implementing right now to restore our ecosystems, liberate farm animals, and grow social justice? These two vegan eco-organic farming legends have spent decades figuring it out.

This event is part of the series ‘Rethinking Food and Agriculture in a Time of COVID and Climate Change’ that was launched by Seed the Commons on World Food Day 2020. »
