Shorter supply chains for better welfare and resilient food systems
Join us for the launch of two new case studies exploring the potential of shifting from live animal transport towards meat and carcass trade. The event will bring together EU policymakers, sector representatives, and civil society to discuss the economic, environmental and animal welfare opportunities of shorter supply chains, as well as the practical conditions needed to make this transition possible. The discussion will also explore how these findings can support the implementation of the EU Livestock Strategy and its commitment on slaughterhouse capacity and its considerations of alternatives to the export of live animals for slaughter.
